Police say they received reports of a number of televisions stolen from the communities of Kiti and Pervolia in Larnaca district over the weekend.

Thieves broke into the clubhouse of AEK in Kiti on Saturday night, taking three TVs worth some €1,400. According to a complaint made by the manager, the unknown perpetrators took 50, 40 and 32 inch sets from the place as well as some cash in coins. Investigations carried out by the police indicated the culprits gained entrance to the clubhouse through the back door.

The sporting facility is not insured and does not have CCTV or an alarm system.

Meanwhile on the same night a little distance away in the area of Pervolia more televisions were stolen from four houses in complex. According to a report made by a building contractor, the thefts occurred between 9pm Saturday and 8am Sunday.

Police ascertained the thieves broke in the front doors of all the houses involved, while it is not yet clear if the buildings were insured.
