
Police issued just short of 800 tickets to drivers and passengers for not buckling up, during a week-long campaign aimed at raising awareness of the need to use seatbelts.
A total of 797 fines were issued between August 15 and August 21, according to police statistics.
These included violations by drivers as well as front-seat and back-seat passengers, and for non-use of child seatbelts.
The vast majority of fines (740) were issued for front-seat violations.
