TWO brothers wanted by police suspected of trying to avert the course of justice and influence a witness – the bodyguard of Giorgos Georgiou, aka Chiquito – who was killed earlier this month, handed themselves in on Tuesday night and were remanded for three days on Wednesday.

The suspects, Greek Pontians aged 43 and 45, were wanted for questioning after Georgiou’s bodyguard told officers a group of men had approached him to try and convince him to leave the country, in exchange for cash.

The suspects, along with another three currently serving a remand order, had allegedly tried to convince the bodyguard not to testify in two ongoing court cases in Larnaca and Nicosia.
The alleged offences took place in February and March this year.

Last week, two men from Russia aged 57 and 52, and another Pontian, aged 30, were arrested and remanded for eight days by Larnaca district court.

Georgiou, aka Chiquito was gunned down on March 1 as he was entering his home after parking his car a few meters down the street.
