
A 23-year-old man suspected of shooting a man, 45, outside a supermarket in Anthoupolis last week was remanded for eight days on Tuesday by Nicosia district court.
The suspect, Stavros Benakis, is being investigated for an attempted murder, illegal possession and carrying a gun and explosive material.
He was arrested on Monday at the Ayios Dhometios crossing point while returning from the occupied areas. He was sought in connection with the shooting and injuring of the 45-year-old man outside a supermarket in Anthoupolis on Friday at 7:20pm following a heated argument.
The victim suffered two wounds in the arm. He was rushed to hospital where he underwent surgery.
Two other suspects, aged 31 and 23, were arrested on Sunday.
