Police officer injured in Napa

A policeman was slightly injured by a 21-year-old tourist in Ayia Napa on Wednesday night.

At around 9pm, the officer attempted to stop a quad bike rider on Nissi Avenue for a routine inspection.

The rider initially slowed down but then accelerated and hit the signalling policeman in his right hand before managing to escape.

He was later identified by the policeman and detained.

The officer was treated in the first aid department at a private clinic in Ayia Napa and discharged.

Police are investigating the case.
